KUNMING, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- China must build more irrigation and water conservancy projects, Vice Premier Wang Yang said.
Projects should be opened to private investment and the water must be made more affordable to farmers, Wang said at a national irrigation meeting held on Monday and Tuesday in Qujing of the southwestern Yunnan Province.
He said the country will encourage experimentation in irrigation so as to establish best practice.
